Poker Face

Do you ever acquire that itch? The itch to bet, to head to the closest casino, to find a superior stakes game of Texas holdem, to sit at a Black jack table for hours on end. I really like that itch. And I like to scratch it.

I also like to watch folks bet. No 2 poker faces seem similar. When I bet I like to feel I put on a poker face that's impenetrable. But I know I have specific actions. For one, the only time I smoke cigarettes is when I bet on poker or Twenty-one. And then I smoke. Except I smoke no matter whether I am succeeding or losing, no matter whether I've a excellent hand or bad.

I once played in a very weekly poker game. The casino game was constantly 5 card draw. There was a man who wagered with us each and every week who generally wore a hat. Many years later I bumped into him in a very bar in Boston and we had a beverage. I asked him if he had been aware of all those actions he made or if they have been subconscious. He informed me that every single thing he did at a poker table was deliberate. He said that everyone is usually checking out everybody else's poker face. They are trying to notice the the tell.

So his technique was to give them lots to consider about. His thinking was if they have been thinking about him picking a piece of fuzz off his coat and what it meant they certain were not thinking about their cards.
